These protein chocolate sandwich cookies are a great treat for when you're craving something sweet, but want a healthier option. I love making healthier treats. I do believe you can treat yourself, but still nourish your body at the same. If you're going to eat something tasty, why not make it good for you too? I'm a huge advocate of using protein powders. They're such an easy and fun way to add extra protein into your diet. Many of us have busy lifestyles that make meal planning a bit tricky. Some days I don't have time to plan and shop for ingredients to make a healthy balanced [...]

Blended Matcha Overnight Oats

*This post is Sponsored by Very* January is widely considered to be the wellness month of the year. From setting New Years resolutions, following ‘cleanse’ diets, cutting out booze for dry January or setting a goal to eat less animal products for Veganuary. So many of us embark on a mission to improve our health, well-being and start the year the right way. The only problem is, for many, once January is over it’s more difficult to keep the momentum going. ‘Wellness fatigue’ kicks in and sticking to a healthy lifestyle becomes more difficult, tedious and seems to require a lot more effort. You’ve probably heard the phrase ‘it’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle’ a lot, but it’s true! [...]

Vegan Tofu Patties

Delicious patties that are packed with protein - these vegan tofu patties are really easy to make and are so tasty! You can enjoy them for lunch, dinner or even as a healthy snack. I love using tofu in recipes. It's so versatile and can be used in so many ways. The one I see the most is chopped into cubes and fried, but I find crumbling a block into a fine mince or blending it with other ingredients works best in terms of both texture and taste. These patties have become my new favourite way of using tofu. It's so easy, all you have to do is blend everything together, shape, then fry them for a few minutes. You [...]

Healthier Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake

A lighter cake made with healthier ingredients - this healthier chocolate peanut butter cake is perfect if you're looking for a lighter celebration cake or if you're craving a slice of cake, but want something more nutritious to satisfy those cravings! I created this cake to celebrate BULK's 15th birthday! I'm proud to say I've been a BULK ambassador since January this year and it's been such a pleasure being part of their team. There are many reasons I love working with BULK. As someone from an ethnic minority, it's amazing to work with such a huge brand and feel so included as part of their massive team of ambassadors. It's also great to know that I work with a [...]

Chickpea Cookie Dough Balls

I'm a huge fan of the idea of adding beans, lentils and pulses into sweet treats. They bump up the fibre, mineral and vitamin content while giving desserts a lovely moist texture. It also means you don't need to add as much flour or even cut it out completely! Beans & pulses are so underrated, under-consumed and unappreciated. They're such an amazing source of nutrients, protein and fibre and yet as a nation we hardly ever eat them! Baked beans are probably the only exception but they come with added salt and sugar and to be fair there is only so much you can do with them. On toast, on baked potatoes or on the side of a fry up.  Beans and pulses are [...]

2-Ingredient Chocolate Chickpea Bark

This 2-ingredient chocolate chickpea bark makes a great snack or healthy post meal treat! I have yet another super simple, few ingredient treat for you that's ready in no time and requires minimal effort and washing up to do after. My partner bought me some chocolate chickpeas a couple of weeks ago and that inspired me to make my own at home. It was such a simple concept and I thought it would be so much cheaper to make my own at home and they're really easy to make too. All you have to do is roast the chickpeas in the oven for 35-40 minutes until nice and crunchy, then mix them in chocolate while still hot so they melt [...]

Anti-inflammatory Turmeric Hummus

A slightly different take on the traditional Middle Eastern dip. This anti-inflammatory turmeric hummus is an easy way to get some extra goodness into your body, especially when served with a side of fresh vegetables! Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, is shown to have potential anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. I use turmeric in many of my recipes and it's always one of the main ingredients in my curries. I also add it to soups, smoothies and I even use it to make a warming golden latte. Supporting our immune system is more important than ever now that we’re all trying to get back to some sort of normality. Kids are back in school and more [...]

Pan-fried Maple Soy Tofu

A delicious Asian inspired meal that's vegan and packed with protein - this pan-fried maple soy tofu dish is also easy to make and bursting with flavour! It's safe to say that my sweet recipes are a lot more popular on here and on Instagram compared to my savoury recipes, which means I gravitate towards making more sweet treats because I know that's what you all enjoy the most. I do however want to start making more savoury dishes as I also love cooking main meals and experimenting with savoury ingredients and flavours. One of my favourite ingredients to include in my meals is tofu, especially when it's served in a delicious sauce packed with flavour like this pan-fried maple [...]

Protein Cookie Dough Cups

* This post is sponsored by Juice Plus+*  An easy snack that requires few ingredients and steps - these protein cookie dough cups are no-bake and super tasty! I’ve always loved adding protein powder to my treats and snacks as you can easily bump up the nutrient content. Sweetened protein powders also add lots of flavour without having to add too much sweetener or not needing to add any at all! It’s a great alternative to flour in baking, but I prefer to use it in no-bake recipes as I feel the taste comes through a lot better. I created this recipe using Complete Vanilla Shake by Juice Plus+®, which is completely vegan and dairy-free. High in protein with some healthy [...]
