Vegan Sesame Chocolate Bark

This is another example of how perfectly well chocolate and tahini/sesames go together. If you think peanut butter and chocolate make the perfect pairing, you need to try this combination too! I always say tahini is the Middle Eastern version of peanut butter. It’s used a lot in both sweet and savoury dishes.

As well as tahini, I remember eating sesame brittle a fair bit growing up in the Middle East, which is usually made with sesame seeds + honey. I haven’t had it in years, but I remember it being super hard and crunchy. I wanted to make my own version by giving it a western twist. Or should I say I’m making chocolate bark with a Middle Eastern twist? ? Either way, it tastes delicious!

Unlike the sesame bark I used to eat, this sesame chocolate bark is a lot friendlier on teeth with a much softer bite. It has a bit of crunch, but it won’t give you jaw ache from trying to chew through it. The sesame seeds are toasted to release their natural oils, giving it a much yummier nutty taste.

You have the option of adding other things like nuts or dried fruit. I wanted to keep it as simple as possible with as few ingredients as possible.

What you need to make this vegan sesame chocolate bark:

As the title of this post suggests, you only need 3 ingredients, which are…

Sesame seeds – Available in all major supermarkets. Sesame seeds have a deliciously mild nutty taste. Even more delicious when they’re lightly toasted to help release their natural oils.

Chocolate – As always you can use any chocolate you prefer. My go to is 70% dark chocolate. You can use a sugar-free variety for a no-added sugar recipe.

Tahini – this helps enhance the sesame taste, but also adds more creaminess to the bark and makes it softer to bite into.
