Vegan Chocolate Protein Bars
Healthy homemade bars that only call for 6 ingredients – these homemade vegan chocolate protein bars make the perfect afternoon snack!
Have you ever made your own protein bars? I made these quick and easy vegan chocolate protein bars with basic, but healthy ingredients to demonstrate how easy they are to make. I love adding protein to my snacks to make them more filling and nutritious. You only need 6 ingredients and a food processor to make them.
These bars would make a great mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack, or a post workout treat to keep you going until meal time.
Vegan Chocolate Protein Bars
Makes – 10 bars
Ingredients
1 (400g) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
40g protein powder of choice
60g peanut butter
2 tbsp cocoa
4 tbsp maple
1 tsp vanilla
Method
Blend everything in the food processor, then transfer and press down into a cake or loaf tin. I used a 22×12 cm loaf tin.
Allow to chill in the fridge for 1 hour, then slice into bars.
Optional – Drizzle some melted chocolate on top to make them extra yummy.
I love your recipes. On few of them you use protein powder which i prefer not to use. Is there any less professed natural alternative?
I like using protein powder because it’s an easy way to get extra protein into the diet. You can substitute the protein powder with something like oats, but the bars won’t taste as sweet.
Hi Nadia, these look delicious but can I make them without the protein? Do I need to add something else instead?
Hi Basma 🙂 You can try adding oats/oat flour, but the bars won’t be as sweet and lower in protein.
It was perfect the first time. Thank you so much for sharing your helpful recipes! Keep it up.
Glad you enjoyed them Ghulam 🙂
Hey,
These look great but I seem to struggle getting a consistency that holds together. What protein powder do you use?
Thanks
Hmm that’s strange. Must be the consistency of the chickpeas you used. You could add some oat flour next time to help the mixture hold better!
I added water in mine so I could use my blender, but now it’s too gooey… What can I do to compensate?
Hi Hirna 🙂 Yeah adding water would make them really soft. Try using a food processor next time if you have one. It’s quite tricky to make these in a blender.
Hey, could you please post how many calories per bar? Thank you
IT is so good.. but for me too soft
I prefer them soft 🙂 you could always add something like oats/oat flour to make them less soft. Hope that helps 🙂
Could you use normal whey protein powder to make these?
Hi Leah! Whey powder will work just as well 🙂
