So these brownies were kind of an accident. Is it just me or are the best recipes usually the ones that don’t go to plan, instead they result in something even better! I was trying to make egg free chocolate cookies, but they didn’t turn out exactly the way I planned, so I decided to turn them into brownies instead…and here’s the result!
Brownies are probably one of my favourite desserts. Dense, rich, sweet and most importantly full of chocolatey goodness! What’s not to love?! I don’t think I’ve ever come across anyone who doesn’t love brownies. However, they do tend to leave a heavy feeling in my stomach. Not surprising when you consider the mountain of sugar and fat that’s added to a typical brownie recipe.
It’s Halloween (spoooookaaaay) so I made some Halloweeny delights – although they’re neither spooky looking nor are they scary (because they’re not loaded with calories and fat :P!). So to celebrate Halloween this year, I made some Clean Eating Pumpkin Cheesecake Brownies!
Applesauce is a healthy, low calorie and low fat baking substitute for oil, butter and eggs. It’s also a great option for vegan baking. It works better for some recipes than others and you may need to adjust baking time when using applesauce.
