Raw Chocolate & Nut Energy Bites
I’ve recently cut out a few things from my diet including added sugar, gluten, processed foods and caffeinated drinks to try and heal my gut and reduce my anxiety levels. There are 2 things I’m really REALLY missing so far – tea and chocolate!
Over the years I have developed the habit of drinking way too much black tea. I could easily drink 7 cups a day, especially when I’m home and/or in the evenings, which as you can imagine it the worst time to be drinking caffeine! I also got used to ending each meal with something sweet, usually a square of dark chocolate. Although I would always have the 72-90% cocoa varieties, but they still have added sugar and since I’m cutting sugar out, I had to wave bye bye to my after meal treat. However, I still crave something sweet after my meals and these raw chocolate & nut energy bites are the perfect treat for me!
Made using dates, cashews, almond butter, coconut oil and cocoa powder – such a simple recipe and list of ingredients but the end result is unbelievably good! The only problem I have with them is that they’re ridiculously addictive! It’s impossible for me to only one!
These raw chocolate & nut energy bites are also vegan, gluten free, dairy free, high in healthy fats, protein and contain no added sugar.
If you’re like me and you like to have a sweet treat after meals, or if you like to snack between meals, make a big batch of these energy bites for an easy, fuss-free option. They’re great to take with you to work, school, college or anywhere else! You can even have them for breakfast if you don’t have time in the morning to prepare a sit down meal.

Yea, I need to reign in the caffeine. With coffee and black tea…it’s bad 😛 But this is the season for all the hot drinks so I’ve been slacking on my usual water consumption!
It’s so difficult for me to stay away from warm drinks, especially now that it’s so cold outside! I miss my tea and coffee 😛
These look really good Nadia! I love little energy bites like this, perfect for a little pick me up throughout the day.
Thank you Sus 🙂 energy bites are one of my favourite snacks 🙂
I was planning to make energy bites with dates! These look fantastic! Pinning to try them!

Dates are amazing and so nutritious 😀 I love using them in desserts and baking to cut down on added sugar 🙂
Hi
These look yummy – do you use fresh dates or dried dates for this?
I used dried but you can use things like medjool dates if you prefer 🙂
These look so delicious Nadia! They’re making me seriously hungry right now, and I’ve just eaten lunch! I couldn’t wait to see the recipe for these since I saw them on your twitter. I definitely need to try these, they sound amazing!

Thank you Gayle 😀 I hadn’t made energy bites in a while but suddenly craved them and now I can’t stop making and eating them! 😀
I bet that the taste is heavenly! You have no idea how much do I love using dates in energy bites, dates work like a natural glue that helps the energy bites hold together, and they’re healthy and they taste good too!!
I know, dates are amazing 😀 I can’t believe there are people out there who don’t like dates! It just doesn’t make sense to me! I eat them every single day without fail!! 😛
These look beautiful and so simple. It would be silly not to whip these up. 🙂
Quick and simple recipes are the best 😀
These energy bites look fantastic. They look just perfect for snacking. I can munch on these anytime! 🙂
Hi your recipes look so wonderful! I wanted to know what toppings you have put on there? I was wondering as I am new to your blog. What ingredients do you think we should start out by purchasing to make a few things from your recipes? The items you use time and time again. I have so far bought coconut oil, almond butter, tahini, cacao nibs and cacao powder. What else would you recommend. I hope you reply xx
Hi Sabrina 🙂 The topping is just almond butter, melted dark chocolate and bee pollen. The things you’ve already bought are a great start! I also use a lot of oats (healthy and cheap!), ground almonds, tofu and tamari. To sweeten things I use maple syrup, honey, xylitol, stevia or coconut sugar, but really all of them work the same for most recipes, so you definitely don’t have to get them all!
These look yummy! Can’t wait to try making them, I really liked the last date truffles I made from your recipes. What topping did you use in the pictures?
Thank you Sunna 🙂 Glad you also enjoyed my date truffles 🙂 The topping is just almond butter, melted dark chocolate and bee pollen.
Hi I see you wrote that one bite = 95 calories but it doesn’t say how many bites this whole batch makes. By any chance do you remember that ?
Thank you so much
I can’t wait to try them !!
This recipe made 25 balls. You can make them smaller or larger depending on your preference 🙂
