I love making these tofu burgers as a healthier 'Fakeaway' on a Friday night. They're easy and quick to make, but also taste amazing! Each burger offers 11g protein, so they're an easy way to bump up your protein intake.
Blend up the tofu in the food process or until you have a texture that resembles ground meat.
Transfer the ground tofu into a large bowl, then mix in the onions, garlic, ginger, spices, nigella seed, tomato puree and season with salt & pepper.
Fold in the chopped coriander and flour and shape into 4 burger patties.
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a frying pan over a low/medium heat. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes, then flip and continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes until browned and heated through.
To assemble the burgers – spread some of the raita dip on the bottom half of the burger buns, then top with the tofu burgers, tomato slices and mango & chilli chutney.
Notes
*Follow tofu pack instructions – I used afirm tofu that didn’t need pressing, but you may need to press your tofu for 30minutes depending on the brand you use.** Use gram/chickpea flour or gluten-free oat flour for a gluten-free version
