We’re hearing more and more about sugar and the negative impact it’s having on our health and well-being, but just how much sugar are we actually consuming?
At first glance it may seem like you’re not eating that much of the pearl-white crystals and it’s not always easy figuring out how much sugar is going into our daily diet. Why? Because it’s EVERYWHERE! If you check the labels of most packaged foods, you’ll find that some form or shape of sugar managed to make its way into the list. That’s one of the reasons why you should always check the labels.
Even when you do check the labels, sugar may not necessarily stand out as one of the listed ingredients – that’s because ‘sugar’ has lots of different names, just to make sugar even more difficult to avoid!
YorkTest have come up with a very interesting infographic (below) demonstrating how our sugar consumption in general has increased dramatically over the years, how addictive sugar is and how it’s ruining our health! There are also some helpful tips on how to reduce your daily intake of what has been referred to as the ‘white poison’.
