A treat that’s made with only 3 ingredients – this vegan tofu chocolate mousse is really easy to make and tastes amazing! It’s also higher in protein, dairy-free and gluten-free.
Here’s yet another recipe involving tofu. Yep, I seem to be in a tofu frenzy at the moment! It’s just such a versatile ingredient and you can use it in so many different ways and to create so many amazing recipes, like this right here – chocolate tofu mousse that’s so light and fluffy – perfect as a light after dinner treat.
This vegan tofu chocolate mousse is also gluten free, dairy free and refined sugar free. It literally takes a few minutes to make. The only thing it involves is melting some (good quality) dark chocolate and whizzing it up with the tofu, then pouring it into glasses/ramekins. The only frustrating part is then waiting for it to set!
This recipe only calls for only 3 main ingredients – tofu, dark chocolate and maple syrup! The darker the chocolate you use the better. I chose to go with a 90% cocoa variety. The mousse feels light but it’s still quite rich so I would say this recipe makes enough to serve 4 people.
Why you need to try this vegan tofu chocolate mousse:
- It’s vegan
- Gluten-free
- Dairy-free
- Nut-free
- Egg-free
- Easy to make
- Higher in protein
- Made with only 3 ingredients!
Vegan Tofu Chocolate Mousse

- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- An optional pinch of salt
Instructions
- Break up the chocolate into a heat-proof bowl and melt in the microwave, stirring every few seconds to make sure the chocolate doesn’t burn.
- To a food processor, add the tofu, melted chocolate and maple syrup and blend until smooth.Â

- I topped mine with more melted chocolate and Biscoff spread, but you can top yours with whatever you want!

What a lovely recipe, Nadia. I’m also in a keeping it simple kind of mood lately — 3 ingredient mousse sounds just about perfect 🙂
Thank you Audrey 😀 basic recipes with few ingredients are the best! 🙂
Your mousse looks so silky and smooth Nadia and your beautiful photos make it look very appealing. I bought a load of silken tofu a while back with big dessert plans which never materialised. I’d better got and check it’s all still in date.
Thank you Choclette 😀 I have a habit of buying ingredients with a recipe in mind then completely forgetting about it until it’s too late 😛
That looks fabulous! We love tofu but I’ve never tried using it in sweet dishes. I’ll have to give it a go – thanks for the inspiration!
I seem to use tofu mainly in sweet recipes and in baking! It makes a great substitute for oil in cakes/muffins 🙂
I have made vegan chocolate mousse using avocado before, but never used tofu. I will definitely be trying that.
I’ve made an avocado mousse too but this one is so much fluffier and the flavour of the chocolate comes through much better 🙂
Yum! This looks so delicious Nadia, thanks for sharing 🙂 So excited to try this out tonight x
Thank you Jodie 😀 Let me know how it goes 🙂
What an awesome recipe, Nadia. I love such simple yet exotic recipes like this. So damn delicious. Loving this! :=
Thank you Anu 🙂 simple recipes are my favourite!
Sooo super healthy and delicious ! What a great recipe ! We love maple syrup and that also with our favourite chocolate mousse. Good job !
Thank you! I love maple syrup too, especially in chocolate recipes 😀
3 ingredients and chocolate and creamy I’m totally in to this recipe! 😉 it looks fantastic!
Thank you Michele 😀 it’s so ridiculously easy and chocolaty!
The creaminess going on here is almost unreal! I love tofu mousse, although I’ve never made it with super dark chocolate, I usually use semi sweet. But I love really dark chocolate, so rich <3
I like super dark chocolate! The great thing about a recipe like this is that it’s so easy to change around depending on your liking 🙂
I’ve always wanted to try a mousse with tofu! Love the idea! Pinned to try it! Your pictures are beautiful!
Aww thank you for the lovely comment Mira 😀 you should definitely try it!
i love that this only has 3 ingredients and is made with tofu! yum 🙂
Thank you Rachel 😀 I love simple & easy recipes 😉
Wow, your pictures are absolutely stunning. Such a smooth & silky chocolate mousse. It’s so nice to see a vegan mouse recipe made with something other than avocado.
Thank you Andrea 😀 I was getting a bit fed up of avocado mousse as well haha!
This sounds amazing Nadia! I love chocolate mousse! I’ve never tried making it with tofu before, what a great idea! Yum!
Thank you Harriet 🙂 You need to try tofu mousse, it gives such an amazing texture without all the fat and calories!
Tofu Chocolate Mousse was one of the very first recipes I did and got paid for it, so it is quite special to me. But, your images are far superior! Luckily mine are trapped in a Canadian health and fitness website somewhere 😉 Gorgeous, tasty, simple and healthy – what more could anyone want!
This looks so creamy and delicious! I love that it only has 3 ingredients and the tofu is such a great idea! I can’t wait to try this 🙂

Aw thank you so much Shashi 😀
It is way too early in the morning for me to be looking at this as all I am going to be doing all day is day dream about a glass or two of this.
Thank you Bintu 😀
I didn’t think that you could use tofu to make a chocolate mousse but sounds like an amazing idea! And looks very delicious too! xx
Tofu works really well in desserts 😀
Such a lovely recipe, Nadia, looks so creamy and chocolaty!
Beautiful pictures as well, pinned 🙂
It really is super smooth and velvety 😀
This is a great tofu mousse recipe! I would probably eat all four servings though–haha! I just love tofu and chocolate too much!
It is difficult to stop eating it’s that good!! 😀
Wow! That looks so yummy (that’s actually understatement)…
Thank you Candice 😀
looks great! will have to try this out. what kind of tofu do you use?
I used soft silken tofu 🙂
Thank you SO much for this recipe! It just saved my bacon. I tried making another websites “3 ingredient coconut cream chocolate mousse” and it was an abject failure. I needed this for a special dessert tomorrow and it worked perfectly. I used firm tofu and just added some soy milk to thin it out a bit after blending. I also substituted icing sugar (powdered sugar) for the sweetener and added some coffee liqueur to make it a bit more exotic. I also upped the chocolate to 200g as I had a 500g packet of tofu and just to make sure that it set nicely I added about 1/8th of a cup of coconut oil. The end result was incredible. Thank you so much for this recipe 🙂
Yey so glad you liked it 😀 I love the idea of adding coffee in there too! Must try it next time 😀
Thank you for a lovely recipe – will this freeze well do you think?
It doesn’t freeze very well unfortunately, but you can half or even quarter the recipe to make a smaller serving size 🙂
Is the Lindt chocolate you use vegan? Because I always see it has milk fat
I use the 70% cocoa one, which contains no milk in the ingredient list 🙂
Could you tell me which maple syrup you used?
Any maple syrup or liquid sweetener will work 🙂
This was amazing! Thank-you so much. I did 2 teaspoons of maple syrup and 2 teaspoons of date syrup, and it was sweet enough for me but I like my chocolate dark. If I made it For friends I would do the amount you suggested.
I don’t usually add any sweetener when I make it for myself because like you, I prefer my desserts not to be too sweet! So glad you enjoyed it Julie 🙂
I love a good chocolate mousse, and this was amazing! Ive never tried a vegan dessert before and I think this was really lovely and creamy 🙂
So glad you enjoyed it Ali 😀
Can I use a blender instead of a food processor?
Blender will work just as well 🙂
So fantastic! I need more phytoestrogens from (organic) tofu and I can’t make time consuming asian dishes daily. This does the job for those days! Thank you so much!!!
Aw so happy you’re enjoying it Naina and I’m so glad I could help 🙂 xx
Hi,Nadia,
I would love to try this as I am fed up of buying vegan desserts and love homemade food ( when I’ve time).
Do you think it is possible to do this dessert with firm tofu and almond milk or must it be silken tofu for it to work?
Another question-what are you using as the topping ? It looks like toffee.?
Hi Al 🙂 I haven’t tried firm tofu, but it should still work. You’ll probably need to add the almond milk a bit at a time until you have the consistency that you prefer 🙂
I love this recipe and have made it several times. So simple and so delicious. Today I added a bit of vanilla extract and orange zest – heaven!
Orange zest is such a great addition 😀 Will try it next time! Thanks Jacquie 🙂 xx
I like this recipe, awesome
