Optimum 9400 Blender

Before starting my blog, my mum bought me a food processor as an encouragement to get me started, which at the time I was extremely happy with. It helped me create lots of amazing recipes and was definitely used a lot. But over the past 2 years that I had been using it, I realised there was quite a fair bit my food processor couldn’t do. For example, I wanted to make my own cashew butter, which eventually I did (kind of) achieve using my old food processor, but only after enduring about 30 minutes of having to stop and start again (to scrape down the sides and help the process along) not to mention the loud noise!

I noticed more and more bloggers and health enthusiasts mentioning the name Vitamix, a high performance blender, but it comes with a very hefty price tag going up to £650! This of course I couldn’t afford and my dreams of owning a powerful blender were shattered. This was until I discovered the Optimum blenders by Froothie. They’re even more powerful than the Vitamix and much more affordable starting at £329 (there is an offer on now at £229 – That’s a £100 off!!)

Why I chose Optimum 9400:

I must mention for the record that I have never tried the Vitamix so I can’t really compare them personally, but when it came to choosing one, there were 2 main reasons why I chose the Optimum 9400 blender over the Vitamix:

  1. The Optimum 9400 blender is much more powerful when compared to the Vitamix. There is actually a very helpful comparison breakdown on the Froothie website that helped me with my decision making. Click here to find out more
  1. As I mentioned above there is quite a huge difference in price between the Optimum 9400 and the Vitamix blender, especially considering the Optimum 9400 blender is more powerful!

For me, it was a no-brainer!

What can I use the Optimum 9400 for?

I used my Optimum blender for three months before writing this review. I wanted to make sure I had used it to make a wide variety of recipes in order to give an honest and thorough review. In this time I made:

Smoothies: Once I made my first smoothie using the Optimum 9400, I couldn’t say I ever made a smoothie before that, because now I can’t honestly say what I used to make pre owning this blender was a smoothie at all! The results are amazing and since owning this blender I’ve been making smoothies almost everyday! It only takes 30-60 seconds and it results in amazing smoothies every single time! Evening when adding big chunks of carrot and lots of Kale!

Nut butters: As I mentioned above, making nut butters used to take 30 minutes using my old food processor. Now, it only takes me 1-2 minutes! You can make anything from peanut butter to healthy Nutella!

Nut milks: I’ve made almond and cashew milk a few times. Again, all it takes is around 30 seconds and you have homemade, creamy fresh nut milks!

Raw desserts: I’m in love with making raw desserts at the moment. Before it was quite a challenge and that’s why I hardly made any. But now, it’s so easy and quick to make things like raw caramel slices and banoffee pies (recipe will be uploaded soon!)

Banana ice cream: Simple, delicious and healthy ice cream that’s ready is seconds…what more can you ask for?

Oat flour and nut flours: I’m a big fan of oat flour and use it so much in many recipes and baking but it’s difficult to get hold of here in the UK. That’s not a problem now since I can have my own super fine oat flour ready in a few seconds, and it’s so much cheaper than shop bought oat flour! The same goes for nut flours (almonds, hazelnut…etc)

Sauces and dips: Things like hummus, baba ganoush and pesto are a big part of my diet. Using optimum 9400 I can achieve the creamiest and smoothest sauces and dips, and in no time at all!

Soups: Fancy soup? Why wait 30 minutes for the vegetables to cook, become soft and then blend? With the optimum 9400…you can have healthy, delicious and warm soup ready in 4 minutes!!! Amazing!

Hope you found this review helpful.

  1. hi! I’m just doing some research into the optimum 9400 and I’m despairing that the price is now 379!!! i know this is still less than the vitamix but it’s painful knowing the low price not so long ago!

    1. You can use any frozen fruit really. Blend mangoes and raspberries for a lovely sorbet style treat 🙂 or frozen avocados give a really creamy texture, blend with maple syrup, dates or even other frozen fruit 🙂 Hope that helps.

  2. There are unfortunately problems with those blenders (I have the 9400 as well). The shape of the container makes it really difficult to get things out of it, if they’re not liquid and if you make a small quantity of something not too liquid, then either, it’ll take a long time or it won’t be possible to get it done properly (think nut butters, date paste, sauces like pesto, dips like hummus or salsa). It is awesome for smoothies, if you add enough liquid (although you don’t need all that much), and soups (I do cook my soups because let’s be honest, raw kale, broccoli or potatoes aren’t that tasty). Awesome for flours as well, as you mentioned. It obviously won’t get as fine as when sing an actual flour mill, but it’s really close.
