Chocolate Date Truffles

These chocolate date truffles only consists of 4 main ingredients, which are:

  1. Dates
  2. Cashews
  3. Cocoa and
  4. Salt

Dates are one of my favourite ingredients to use when making healthy desserts. They’re naturally sweet, high in fiber and contain many beneficial minerals and nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, vitamin Bs and Iron.

If you don’t like cashews, you can really use any kind of nut you prefer or have available.

To make these truffles raw, substitute the cocoa powder for raw cacao powder.


Chocolate Date Truffles

Makes: 16 truffles


  • 1 cup soft pitted dates
  • 1 cup raw unsalted cashews
  • 1 heaping tbsp cocoa powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional coating (ground nuts, sesame seeds, shredded coconut, cocoa, cinnamon…etc)


  • Place the cashews and dates into a blender or food processor and blend for a few minutes. You may need to scrape down the sides to help the process along.
  • Now add in the cocoa powder and a pinch of salt. Feel free to use cacao powder instead if you want raw chocolate truffles.
  • Continue blending until the mixture sticks together, then transfer into a bowl.
  • Take a walnut size piece of the mixture and start rolling between the palms of your hands to shape into a ball.
  • To make these truffles even more delicious and pretty, I’ve prepared some ground pistachio nuts and some toasted sesame seeds to coat them in. You can use anything you prefer like shredded coconut, cocoa, cinnamon or other types of ground nuts.
  • Roll each ball in your coating of choice. Repeat this process. You should end up with around 16 truffles.
  • Store your truffles in the fridge and leave them to chill for a few hours to firm up, and then they’re ready to enjoy!

These healthy chocolate treats are great to have in your fridge to snack on when you’re feeling puckish, or as a sweet treat to have after meals.
